Ana Lucía Pozas (she/ella) earned a MSc degree in Oceans and Fisheries at the University of British Columbia (2022). Her thesis investigated the influence of diet quality on the divergent population trends of California sea lions in the Channel Islands (USA) and the Gulf of California (Mexico).

Ana Lucía currently works for the Nippon Foundation Ocean Nexus Center where she assists in coordinating a large network of ocean researchers working towards ocean equity.

At Ocean Nexus and beyond, Ana Lucía aims to use her science background and creativity to communicate solutions that mitigate climate change, and dismantle social inequities in the field of ocean science.

Ana Lucía is from Mexico, but she also grew up in Belgium, France, and Canada where she currently resides. In her free time you can find her scuba diving in new places, learning the drums, or further experimenting with photography and film!
